Healing Quest: Deepak Chopra on Spirit and Healing

July 5, 2010

We turn to Deepak Chopra, one of the genuine sages or our age, for insights into the mind-body-spirit interplay. In this segment, Deepak describes the effect of a deep spiritual experience. According to the ancient wisdom traditions of India, when you get in touch with your spirit, you experience love, knowingness/intuition and happiness. In physical terms, this means that your body produces serotonin and dopamine – the happy hormones; oxytocin – the pleasure hormone, and opiates – which provide a feeling of intoxication and help regulate the immune system.

All “states” are just that, states. Meaning they will pass. BUT they are important because you will have first hand experience. There’s a type of sound that gives people experiences like the spiritual teachers talk about that everyone can use for free on youtube here: watch?v=2_a-Yh5FTaE . Really have to try to believe.

@InnerSmile72 Dear InnerSmile72.. Just Smile a little bit.. I red the 7 rules for succes in the old center of Lyon.. (I am recently divorced, it was my first trip all alone.. I felt rich reading and understanding what he wrote in that book..What is science.. it’s just a model of the truth.. For me “his”model worked!

  • InnerSmile72

@Pan3405 Says YOU. If you take the time to understand why scientists, thinkers and average people all over the world are repulsed by his woo, his distaste for science, his phony ideas and his wishful thinking, you might find something to dislike about him too. You’re probably too deluded yourself to even accept someone like him deserves serious criticism. “Richard Dawkins exposes charlatan Deepak Chopra” or “Leonard Mlodinow vs. Deepak” or Deepak Chopra @ skepdic

  • Pan3405

@InnerSmile72 I think You’re afraid.. because there’s nothing to find to hate him like You do..

  • InnerSmile72

@Pan3405 Nothing what the hell are you talking about?. Deepak is full of shit. Watch his debate “The Future of God” He makes stuff up and sells it. He’s shades of the cult leader Maharishi.

  • Pan3405

@InnerSmile72 Where are you so afraid off?

  • Pan3405

@go1godfurther He speaks.. about life.. that’s the truth isn’t it?

  • chromadomino

I want to become like Deepak, I’m studying, maybe someday…

  • go1godfurther

For those of you who think that Deepak Chopra is speaking truth… would you like to buy a bridge? ; )

  • InnerSmile72

i hate deepak because he’s so full of shit which anyone can confirm by examining his base claims. But uses science to sound like he’s some kind of flawless investigator

  • elena11293

  • Etimespace

  • psychicphenomena

lovely! also check out the award winning documentary about the science behind psychic experiences called something unknown

  • helpvidz

Can healing work if your an atheist?

  • pigpenthecat

How do you know what he has experienced? Why do you have such harsh judgements on these issues? Just curious. Seems quite harsh.

  • hughmuso

Depak Chopra talking about life after death is a perfect demonstration of an individual commenting on something of which he has no knowledge. EVidence of any kind would be helpful.

  • hughmuso

Deepak Chopra works very hard to misinform and gives the impression that the mind can cure all ailments. He’s disingenuous. He sets out to convey that the mind can cure all ailments but pathetically backpedals when challenged, how weak is that ?
The placebo effect is real and genuine and has some effect on pain perception and psychological illness but doesn’t work on a broken leg, cancers or systemic physiologically based illness.

  • LambadLambadLambda

    @hughmuso

He never says all ailments can be healed with the power of the mind. But some ailments are. Ever heard of the placebo effect?

  • hughmuso

He makes a lot of unsubstantiated claims. We used to call it hot air, maybe that’s what he calls spirit.A lot of partial truths designed to suck in gullible people.
Implying that you can “heal” all ailments with the mind. Fine ! Show me the evidence. Bullshit to the power n.

  • MrTrotskysGhost

Thanks for your comment, I didn’t explain myself very well, but I am glad that at least you knew what I meant :-)

  • SnottHawley

we are all only a small part of that “god” I understand what you mean when you say “I am God” but it can be misleading to people just being initiated into this stuff. they may think you mean we are all gods, when in fact, its not true. The truth is there is only God, and we are only concious thoughts in the mind of God
